The Environmental Research Group (ERG) is a research group of the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers).Aims
The aim of ERG is to facilitate and integrate research into the environment.
This is being achieved by:
The provision, through regular meetings, of a discussion forum for aspects of environmental research for a wide range of natural and social scientists, both within and outside the RGS/IBG. For details of forthcoming meetings see the meetings page.
The publication of the results of its meetings and other activities.
The seeking out details of funding and research initiatives and the publicising of this information in a regular Newsletter for its members. The Group will seek to influence research initiatives launched by UK, European and International agencies and institutions.
The establishment of links with other environmental research groups and institutions in the UK and overseas, both within and without Geography. Linkages to other RGS/IBG Research Groups are encouraged.
Contributing to environmental debates in scientific journals and media outlets and within governments, and seeking to influence environmental legislation, policy and research opportunities.
Publicising the environmental work carried out within the RGS/IBG.
The ERG Newsletter
The activities of the group, along with reports of recent conferences and details of forthcoming meetings of interest are reported in the ERG Newsletter which is produced approximately twice-yearly and distributed to ERG Members.
