GIS data capture of the proposed South Downs National Park boundary

The proposed National Park within the South Downs has been through a Public Inquiry. GIS mapping of environmental and planning information has been extensively used in evaluating and presenting the case both for the Park and substantiating its boundary.

Work on this programme has involved a wide range of paper and digital sources. Data has been captured from paper maps to depict the proposed boundary of the park. This information together with maps of planning constraints, conservation designations and areas committed for development have been drawn together to provide an overview of the pressures and opportunities within the South Downs landscape..
