- Derived Data Sets
For each data type there is information on resources under 8 "topic" headings (the columns in the table).
- Reference and Example Data Types
- Data Collectors and Sources
- Data Collators and Publishers
- Existing Standards and Guidelines for Data Collection, Management and Collation
- MDIP Data Archive Centre
- MetaData Discovery Resources
- Online Access to Data
- Uploading Data
Reference and Example Data Types
Provides a table cross referencing against equivalent categories in other schema:
- UK Gemini/ISO Meta Data Topic Categories (ISO MD_TC): see interoperability document
- "Seasearch" Approved Parameter Groups (APGs): see sea-search.net and data dictionaries.
Data Collectors and Sources
Identifies organisations which collect and may act as the original sources of marine data under the identified categories.
Data Collators and Publishers
Identifies organisations which collate and publish data under the identified categories. May not always be the same organisation as the original source.
Existing Standards and Guidelines for Data Collection, Management and Collation
Lists recognised standards and guidelines which apply to data collection, management and collation, according to data category.
MDIP Data Archive Centre
Lists MDIP Data Archive Centre (DAC) for the identified data type. In the case of no organisation being identified, a DAC meeting the required standards has not yet been recognised by MDIP.
MetaData Discovery Resources
Provides links to online metadata Discovery resources. Discovery metadata provides basic information on data sources, generally at a project or survey level.
Online Access to Data
Provides links where data / information are available online. In many cases this capability does not yet exist.
Online Upload Capability
Provides links where an online capability exist for organisations to upload data to a Data Archive Centre (DAC). In many cases this capability does not yet exist.
