Coastal Data Cleaning

A project to review and correct spatial data on 2,131 coastal polygons relating to a range of legal agreements and transactions.

The Crown Estate has a polygon dataset showing different types of legal agreements, transactions and dealings along the British coast. The data have been created according to legal documentation and plans over many years and captured to different standards of base mapping over time; therefore they are not consistent.

GeoData cleaned the data according to a set of reference data and categorizes each polygon via a decision tree. Data also gets attributed and split according to the existence of dredging rights to form consistent and accurate spatial data compatible with ESRI's ArcGIS product suite.
