Geomorphology » Habitat / Ecology

The physical habitat of river channels provides the template for the establishment of biodiversity. Many river systems have suffered a long history of modification of the channel planform, hydrological regime, channel and land use management. Survey of the channel, riparian zone, floodplain and catchment provides an input into setting objectives for conservation and ecological restoration ad establishing reference sites.

GeoData has undertaken a number of river surveys with specific objectives to assess habitat conditions and species requirements. These methods have contributed to SSSI and SAC management schemes.
