GeoData offers expertise in the specification, field survey, analysis and interpretation of geomorphology of river and catchment systems. Through both research and development activities and consultancy programmes we have developed expertise across many UK river systems.
These activities have contributed to a rage of policy and strategy requirements, including Water Framework Directive (WFD), Water Level Management Plans (WLMP), and earlier Local Environment Agency Plans (LEAP) and Catchment Management Plans (CMPs). Our inputs are informed by our research interests and supported by a professional team of geomorphologists.
GeoData has undertaken environmental surveys of over 2,000 km of UK rivers and, together with academic colleagues in Geography is the leading developer of field survey methods for Fluvial Audit. We have pioneered the integrated approaches to the use of GIS and databases in this sector to deliver consistent data for the survey information, including mobile data and GIS entry. These methods are available in modules to cater for surveys of SAC rivers and biodiversity audits and other problem-specific situations (e.g. siltation, erosion, flood defence) operations.
Key clients include: Environment Agency, English Nature, Countryside Council for Wales and the Forestry Commission.
