Sound and Mental Health Project
This interdisciplinary project investigates the relationship between urban soundscapes and the emotional well-being of university students. Participants walk along predefined quiet and noisy routes in Southampton while completing psychological assessments (DASS-21) and soundscape perception surveys based on ISO 12913 standards. Objective data is collected using the NoiseCapture app, and subjective data via Survey123. The project aims to uncover how perceived tranquillity and environmental noise relate to stress, anxiety, and depression in young adults.
