Developing the UNICEF Child Climate Risk Index
Prof. Craig Hutton lead a UK national academic team working with UNICEF in the development the development of the Children’s Climate Risk Index (CCRI), the first comprehensive global assessment of children’s exposure to climate and environmental hazards. Working with Ian Waldock and Duncan Hornby from GeoData along with University of Edinburgh and the University of Stirling. This research has influenced international and national policies, guided resource allocation from major funding bodies, and shaped climate resilience programs for vulnerable children. The CCRI has been cited in UNICEF reports, national adaptation plans, and advocacy campaigns, directly impacting climate action strategies worldwide.
