The FruitSense project is a UK-Australia collaboration aimed at enhancing the monitoring and management of Australia's tree crops through Earth Observation (EO) data and cloud computing technologies. Led the University of Southampton and funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), the project focuses on several key objectives:

  • Developing a comprehensive, countrywide map of major tree crops across Australia.
  • Implementing EO-based methodologies to monitor tree crop health and condition.
  • Creating predictive models for tree crop production.
  • Assessing current and future climatic impacts on tree crop production and health.
  • Delivering a web-based, climate-smart tree crop management system to support sustainable agricultural practices.

By integrating EO data with advanced analytical tools, FruitSense aims to provide valuable insights for farmers, agronomists, and policymakers to promote sustainable and climate-resilient tree crop production in Australia.
